Frozen Berry Smoothie

When in season, I freeze boatloads of strawberries, raspberries, black raspberries, blueberries, and peaches.  This simple recipe, which isn't a recipe at all, is a frequent request of visiting young ones....and old ones.

Fill food processor with a mix of strawberries, raspberries and blueberries.  I just ran out of raspberries, so today it was just strawberries and blueberries.  Blueberries are more sour, so I use about 1/5th blueberries to 4/5th strawberries.

Add a tablespoon of either fresh pressed lemon juice or a tablespoon or two of grated lemon with the peel.  (I freeze whole organic lemons, then grate them into a container and keep in the freezer)

Maple syrup to taste.  About 1/3 cup for every processor full of berries. Add water, about 1/2 cup at a time to get the desired texture.

Blend/pulse until creamy.  You may need to let berries thaw just a little bit.  Store extra in the freezer or make into berry popsicles.

Variation:  Strawberries with a bit of basil.  My favorite.

Variation:  Swirl plain greek yogurt through it.  Beautiful to look at; tasty to eat.

Variation:  Peaches with mangos.

Uses:  Make into ice cubes and add to your tea, lemonade, or kombucha.  Can also use them to flavor your vinaigrettes.
