Perfection…

It’s an illusion and this side of heaven, you aren't going to find it. It's a struggle that many have lived with and the shame it leaves is unwarranted. I give you permission to take your expectations of perfection in yourself and others and burn it in the Holy Fire of the Holy Spirit. Loose upon yourself the blessings from the Throne Room of Heaven with living in the gratefulness and fullness of Jesus' perfection which paid the price for us all. Hopefully, prayerfully, you'll experience the relief that comes with throwing off the boulder which isn't yours to carry.

The Morning Meeting

I met with someone the other morning. I was enthralled with his presence. Time slipped away when I realized several hours had passed. How could this be, I wondered, that so much time was spent in solitude with him, yet I longed for more; there was so much more I longed to hear and longed to say. (John 15:1-4, Psalm 5:3) Oh, this Abba Father of mine reminds me how especially fond he is of me and reminds me often that I am his favorite (and you are too)! (Ephesians 3:18-19, Zephaniah 3:17)

As we spent time together, with me reading from his written word, (Psalm 119:15-16) singing old hymns, and new songs of praise, a fire burned within me and I said, “What can I do for you today? I long to do something for you, for the kingdom?” His answer surprised me for I am prone to works and being productive. He said, “I just want you to be with me.” It caused me to stop and gasp, for it was said so tenderly. It is a wondrous truth that I have value in my “being-ness” and my Abba Father values that above my “doing-ness.” And so it is with you as well. He values you. You are called. You are chosen. You are loved. (John 15:16, Ephesians 1:4, John 3:16)

Though my quiet time may seem quiet in the natural realm, there is much taking place. I ascend the holy mountain, (Psalm 24:3,4) and climb up into the lap of my Heavenly Father. While there, I am taught by Holy Spirit, who opens up unsearchable things to me. It stirs within me and my cup is filled. Indeed, my cup is often running over. (Psalm 23:5) I am strengthened and fortified. Time in his presence leaves me different than I was before.

Do you hear Holy Spirit calling your name? He knows your name. He named all the stars and he values you even more than them.(Psalm 147:4) He whispers, he nudges, he beckons you. Do not delay. Run to him. Sit with him. Abide in him. Be loved by him. Be nourished by him. Be taught by him. He is waiting eagerly…. for YOU.

My time with him is unique and yours will be too. There is much he wishes to teach me if I am willing to come and drink. There is layer upon layer of meaning. It is never ending. He is the lover of my spirit and my soul and nothing can fill that space the way he can. When I sit with him, all else ebbs away and all other matters find their proper place of importance or lack of it. Some days I feel like Holy Spirit is quieter and my time of solitude feels "dry." That's okay. It happens. The Word is still the Word and it is trustworthy and needs to be hidden in my heart so that I can recall it and lean upon it in the day of need.
